This is a sketch of a dream I had recently. (I'm surprised at how well it turned out. Usually when I try to draw these things, I end up crumpling up the paper and tossing it in the trash.)
And for anyone who's bored enough to listen, this was my dream: the sun was shining in my eyes and I was in this really snowy place (maybe because of wishful thinking, lol...I'm dreamin' of a WHITE Christmas!)...and then this really, REALLY weird guy in a winter coat showed up. He was too weird for me to sketch the way he actually looked; I don't even know how to describe him. But he pointed at a snow-covered, jagged mountain in the distance, looked straight at me and said:Climb the mountain.
Those three words echoed over and over in my head for days afterward. But that's not the creepy part.
The thing is that I've been very sluggish and lethargic lately. I have no motivation to get anything done. I've been stuck in a rut, just drifting through life and not really caring about anything. I know what I need to do, but I don't want to bother doing it. (So to any fellow Christians who may be reading this, if you could pray for me I'd REALLY appreciate it!)
Anyway, God had been dropping hints at me for about a week before I had this dream.Hint 1
- Mom did a couple of devotions about laziness
and how to be diligent.
And she wasn't even trying to schedule anything; the devotion just happened
to fall around that time. (Hmm...)Hint 2
- A Christian comedic group (Mad Dogs and Englishmen, GREAT group) came to a church close to us. One of the things they did when we went to see them was a skit about how you have to work hard to achieve your goals.
(Okay, cool. Who says God doesn't have a sense of humor?)Hint 3
- At youth group, the youth pastor did a lesson about...you guessed it! Laziness.
And the first thing he said was "Who knows what a sloth is?" (At this point I was stifling incredulous laughter and making faces up at the ceiling.)
And finally, Hint 4
- I have a weird dream about a weird guy telling me to go climb a mountain.
Gee, God. Are you trying to tell me something??
So yeah, that's the story behind this. Comments would be lovely! (Meanwhile, I think I'll do myself a favor and find a random mountain to climb...)
