...I've fandubbed one of Brotherhood's theme songs. With my own english lyrics. And it probably won't be the last time.
The theme I did was "Ray of Light", the fifth and final ending song in the series. I wasn't crazy about this song at first; but when I took time to really listen to it, I was struck by the lovely harmonies and how beautifully melodic it was. And once I looked up some english translations of the lyrics, I thought, "Wow, there's some beautiful emotion in this." It's angsty, but also hopeful; and that's a mix I can never resist.
I also couldn't get past how insanely Conqueror-of-Shamballa-ish the lyrics felt; it sounded so much like Ed stuck in our world, missing his brother and trying to find a way back to him. Possibly Winry, too. Both my inner EdWin fangirl and Elric-brotherly-love fangirl are eating it up with spoons. xD I may hate how that movie ended, but it did have class, and there WERE some beautiful ideas in it...
Anyway, you can listen to my fandub here, if you want:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGlF3A…And here are my lyrics. I've taken some artistic liberties, here and there (none of those "alleluia's" are in the original, but the word the singer was singing sounded awfully similar to it and I couldn't get it out of my brain. And it sounded pretty. So I put it in. Nyeh). But I tried hard to capture the spirit of the song. Feel free to critique it and let me know what you think! I'm pretty new at this!

1. I brought down hell on earth that day
And ever since, I've given up the right to cry
Even when I accept all the pain
It's not something I can ever justify
Dreaming the laughter, the times I can't return to,
Just reminds me of all that I've failed to do
Yet another piece of all my memories with you
Is fading to gray
It's going away
(Chorus)
And I want to find a way
To be stronger than today
So maybe, someday, you can hear me calling out to you
If I walk another mile
Maybe I can find your smile
I'll look up to the heavens for you, sing alleluia
I'm holding on until the light turns darkness into dawn
2. There's so much I've locked up inside
I've only just begun to fight the truthful lies
Though I'm starting to understand why
I long for reassurance in your eyes
Ever unending, this road I'm on continues
Oh it's empty without you, though the scenery's new
I'm still clinging to the non-existence of you
You're going and gone
The time's running on
(Chorus 2)
And I want to find a way
To be stronger than today
To let go of the losses for the sake of what I found
If my teardrops turn to rain
And I stumble through the pain
I'll look up in the starlight for you, sing alleluia
I'm holding on until the clouds are colored with the sun
(Bridge)
All the mysteries are getting deeper
You'd think growing up would make it clearer
Every life is made of countless things that I can't comprehend
All that I believe is somehow, far beyond the edge of sky,
We'll connect at last, be as one again
(Chorus 3)
And I swear I'll find a way
To be stronger than today
And maybe, someday, you will hear me calling out to you
If I walk another mile
I just know I'll find your smile
I'll look up to the heavens for you, sing alleluia
I'm holding on until the light turns darkness into dawn
Clouds now colored by the sun
